From 3 Months to 100 Years
We’re dedicated to establishing lasting relationships with each of our patients and their families. We take great pride in providing quality care to multiple generations of a single family, delivering quality care for each and every member.
By establishing these lasting relationships, we can guarantee a continuity of care and of quality. We can focus on early intervention, positive oral hygiene habits, and maintenance rather than fixing problems long after they’ve become major problems.
We look forward to guiding the healthy development of your children’s mouths and jaws, and helping you establish positive cleaning habits with them. If they need orthodontics, we’ll be there to help — and if you need a clean, a whitening, or even a major restoration, we can help you at the same time.
Dentistry for Children
The early years of a child’s life are very important for establishing good habits and ensuring lasting health and wellbeing. At Dentrix Dental Care, we put a great deal of effort into establishing positive relationships with children from a young age.
Children who have positive experiences at the dentist at a young age are less likely to develop dental phobias, and more likely to get dental treatment if and when they need it.
Early visits to the dentist are very different to what adults will typically go through. Until the permanent teeth arrive, there’s not much room for restorative options, and no need for cosmetic dentistry. Instead, the focus is on hygiene and guiding the healthy and proper development of the teeth and jaw.

First Visit the Dentist
Generally, it’s advised that a child should start to visit the dentist from around 3 to 6 months of age. This isn’t necessarily to begin any sort of treatment, but rather to get them accustomed to the dental environment. Typically the child should accompany a parent on a routine hygiene or cleaning visit.
During these early visits, the dentist may still have a quick look in the child’s mouth. While there’s not much work that could be done at this stage, it gives them a chance to see if the child’s mouth is developing properly.
If it isn’t, the dentist can start discussing potential future treatments to ensure proper jaw development in the coming months and years.
First Dental Appointment
The child’s first dental appointment should be around a year of age, when the baby teeth have started to appear.
By age 3, most children have their baby teeth. By 6, the permanent teeth are starting to appear. Between these times, the development of their teeth and jaw are closely monitored. If there are problems with the growth of the baby teeth, it could indicate future issues with the adult teeth.
Crowding is another issue that’s looked out for. If there’s not enough space in the child’s mouth for all the teeth, their teeth will crowd and cause bite problems.
Early intervention is the best way to prevent major problems in the future, so if problems are seen during these formative years, treatments can begin early.
Once the permanent teeth are in place, regular hygiene checkups start resembling what adults go through. Teeth are checked, cleaned, and scaled where necessary. Fillings can be used on cavities, and orthodontics will be discussed for arranging the teeth and bite.
Teens and Beyond
Once children are in their mid-teens and have all of their permanent teeth, their treatments are fairly much identical to what adults go through at a trip to the dentist.
At Dentrix Dental Care, we offer a complete range of dental treatments and procedures, both cosmetic and restorative.
At Dentrix Dental Care, our family dentistry includes:
- Teeth whitening
- Crowns and veneers
- Invisalign orthodontic braces
When permanent teeth get damaged, they need to be restored or replaced. Our restorative dental procedures include:
